I’ve never been a baseball fan. The number of World Series games I’ve watched can be counted on one hand - and one of those this last year.
As a Texan, it’s great that the Rangers won! Yet I have virtually nothing invested in being a Ranger’s fan. Off the top of my head, Garcia is the only name that comes to mind, and that’s mostly because of the memes during the Astros series.
It would be disingenuous of me to be posting and sharing stuff as if I’m an invested fan. That’s not a “grand slam” against anyone posting stuff. It’s more about jumping on a bandwagon pretending to be a fan when you really aren’t.
Much like someone saying they follow Jesus who posts a bunch of memes and verses while living a life based on what they selfishly want and filled with gossip, anger, pettiness, drama, and lack of commitment.
For reference, that’s soil three in Matthew 13’s parable of the soils - where the cares of this world choke out fruit-bearing.
It’s those wannabe Jesus fans who are often the loudest …
