The circumstances of Jesus’ birth weren’t bright, clean, and shiny. There weren’t decorations, parties, or fancy things to eat… there wasn’t even something called Christmas.
It was simple. It was real. It was nothing like what we call Christmas.
Honestly, this is a tough year for us - both family and church. But at least we aren’t stranded in a borrowed cave where the farm animals live…
I’m not sure what God is up to or what 2024 will look like. But I do know this. Because of a tiny baby born in impoverished conditions two thousand years ago…
I have hope. I have faith. I have eternal life. And today, I have everything I need. God’s got tomorrow covered too.
It’s simple. Jesus is everything to me, no matter what the conditions or the season. God doesn’t just show up when things are bright and shiny.
This year has been a reminder of that. Keep it simple. That’s when Jesus shows up!
