In The Beginning…
No, I was not a part of the Jesus movement of the late 1960’s - I was a toddler. There’s no connection to the guy who was called the hippie preacher back then. I’m just a guy who grew up in church as a pastor’s kid and started preaching at 12. I’m a pastor now but haven’t always been. I walked, no, ran away from faith several times.
No wilderness war stories right now, but when God rescued me the last time over a dozen years ago somebody told me, “When you were about five years old you used to say when you grew up you were going to be a hippie preacher!”
I had the ponytail and accessories and the name kind of stuck.
Why This Site And Why Now?
I bought hippiepreacher.com after that discussion and started a little blog. Next thing you know, we are part of two churches leading small groups, a youth group, and planning a church plant. The whole Hippie Preacher thing kind of fell by the wayside.
